My Biggest Learning Moment
Share
“Just because you physically can’t do things anymore because you’re disabled, doesn’t make you less of a person.”
That was my biggest learning moment with EDS.
I spent a long time mourning the things I couldn’t do anymore — running around with my kids, cleaning the whole house in one go, going out without worrying about symptoms. I felt like I was failing. Like I wasn’t enough.
But eventually, I realized: My value isn’t measured in tasks completed or energy spent.
It’s in how much love I give. It’s in the way I show up, even when it’s hard. It’s in my softness, my resilience, my humor, my faith.
Being disabled doesn’t take anything away from who I am as a person. If anything, it’s shown me how strong and whole I truly am — even when my body doesn’t cooperate.
This lesson changed everything about how I carry myself. It’s still hard sometimes, but now, I carry myself with grace.
